From June 5th to June 8th, Berlin once again welcomes the Jazzdor Festival.

The Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin Festival is a jazz festival that takes place every November in Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin and Offenburg. The festival organizes forty concerts (including a series of Franco-German concerts called "jazzpassage"), master classes, and one or more artists in residence. The first edition of the festival took place in 1986 in Strasbourg, but it expanded to Berlin in 2007 under the name Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin Festival (Jazzdor Berlin). In Berlin, Jazzdor will offer a four-day program on French jazz with some opportunities to meet French and German musicians this June. Jazzdor also organizes a dozen concerts from September to June in Strasbourg and the Alsace region as well as concerts in schools.

Jazzdor is a member of A.J.C. Jazzé Croisé (formerly AFIJMA Association of Innovative Festivals in Jazz and Contemporary Music) which brings together some thirty contemporary jazz and improvised music festivals in France, including the Allumes du Jazz (independent jazz labels in France) and Strasbourg Festivals (7 Strasbourg festivals geared towards creation). Since January 2013, Jazzdoor has been labeled "S.M.A.C International Jazz" (Scenes of Music Present) by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

After 12 years, the Jazzdoor Berlin strengthens the German-French alliance and deepens cooperation with musicians of the diverse, international Berlin scene. This includes the bassoonist Sophie Bernado, who could already be seen at the White Dessert Orchestra by Eve Risser last year at Jazzfest Berlin. And, the accordionist Andrea Parkins, represented by drummer Yorgos Dimitriadis, who lives in Berlin, and the French artist Phiilppe Lemoine. Some Jazzdor "creations" of recent years have fortunately successful projects, such as the QÖÖLP Quartet or the Duo Nils Wogram and Bojan Z. show. The latter will be heard in a new constellation in June.

Each year, in cooperation with the French program Jazzmigration, Jazzdor offers young artists a platform to perform for a German audience who have the opportunity to get an impression of the lively, up-to-date jazz scene of neighboring France. In addition, Jazzdoor offers an opportunity for reunions with acquaintances; true to the credo of the festival to accompany musicians in their development over a longer period of time. Surprises and discoveries are definitely to be had again this year!
