'Festival della Poesia Europea' Returns to Frankfurt for 2014
May 13th, 2014
News from Berlin - Mr Peter Feldmann, Mayor of Frankfurt am Main is backing the 7th European Poetry Festival with support from the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin from May 22nd until May 26th 2014.
Some of Ireland’s best loved poets such as Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin and Moya Cannon will participate this year. The festival will delve into themes such as “poetry as a journey”, “poetry and nature” and “poetry and food”.
The 7th edition of the festival provides opportunities for poets to network and inspire themselves through the broad program of events which will include readings, panel discussions, social events and a boat trip.
Marcella Continanza describes the festival on their website as “a tribute to the poetry, but also to Europe and to the voices of his poet, whose works contribute to paint a varied picture of the whole of Europe, from the Atlantic to the Urals. A continent full of fruitful endeavours and living contradictions.”
The event is typically successful in bringing poets and poetry readers from all over Europe together in one location to celebrate the binding nature of the presentation of the thoughts and inspirations behind the most appreciated poets from across Europe
