A 38-Member Delegation of Students from Pakistan Were Welcomed at the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin and Gained Useful Information about Higher Education in Germany

Thanks to the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin, 38-Member delegation of students from all over of Pakistan visited Berlin, the city known for being a European multicultural hub.

Students were warmly welcomed by the Ambassador Syed Hasan Javed. During the visit, they received a lot of useful information about Pakistani-German relations with special reference to their relations in the field of education. Students were well briefed about the Students Exchange Program and faculty to faculty cooperation established between different universities of Germany and Pakistan in recent years. The ambassador also stressed the importance of research and extracurricular activities for students, which often opens the door to the world of labor and increases the probability of a successful future in which they can improve the society's development.

The ambassador explained in detail the reforms of the education sector in Pakistan followed by Chief Executive of the Wildau Technical School of the University of Applied Sciences, Brandenburg, Mr. Ingo-Eric M. Schmidt-Braul, who made a presentation on the Education System in Germany and how international students can benefit from it. Afterwards, the Ambassador and Mr. Schmidt willingly answered all of the questions raised by the participants, which were mostly related to higher education in Germany.

Studying in Germany for higher education is often appreciated by Pakistani Students, because Germany provides each student with the possibility to choose more than 14,500 Bachelor and Master Degree programmes without paying tuition fees in 11 of its 16 states. Moreover, Germany is the fourth largest economy in the world and the largest economy of Europe. It has a low unemployment rate, which means it is relatively easy to find a job after graduation. Another special thing about Germany is the excellent quality of its higher education, proven by the fact that some of the German Universities are ranked among the best in the world.

At the end of the students’ visit, the Head of the delegation, Prof. Dr. Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Government College University Lahore, thanked the Ambassador and his team for warmly welcoming the students and organizing a briefing session with the Embassy.
