News from Berlin - On Thursday April 24th, the Nordic Embassy will host Dánjal, a jazz band composed of talented musicians from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the Faroe Islands. These diverse backgrounds blend wonderfully into distinctive compositions, delivering spectacular performances. Furthermore, Dánjal has been nominated as the Best Live Act at the 2012 Danish Music Awards. The event will be held at the Nordic Embassy in Berlin on April 24th at 8pm, showcasing the band’s previous two albums, “The Palace” (2010) and “The Bubble” (2012). With four years of high activity on the live scene the group has developed their own unique sound and musical hybridity, combining melodic rock, Balkan rock, folk, klezmer and jazz, alongside the influence of home reflected in the groups’ music.

Dánjal is composed of Annika Jessen (Sweden) on clarinet, Kim Nyberg (Finland) on mandolin, Sidse Holte (Denmark) on vocals and percussions, Stephen Sieben on guitar, Ulrik Brohuus on drums, Erik Olevik on bass, and frontman Danjal a Neystabø on vocals and piano. Dánjal has previously performed in Germany many times, at events including the Brecht Festival, Treibsand Festival and Circus Krone. Admission is free.
