Classic Open Air Festival at Gendarmenmarkt

From 4 to 8 of July, orchestras, vocal and instrumental soloists will fire up the heart of Berlin

Staged on Gendarmenmarkt, the Classic Open Air festival will include classical music, German and Italian Opera and operetta but also rock, pop and jazz music.

The Classic Open Air 2019 will begin with a declaration of love to Berlin. The audience will be taken on a journey through the 200 years of Berlin's music history by the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and first-class soloists. The evening will end with  spectacular fireworks.

On the second day, called « Highlights of Classical Music », the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau and soloists will bring the greatest works of classical music alive. The compilation of the most famous music pieces will be accompanied by atmospheric illumination, light effects and fire elements.

The third day will be dedicated to « The Italian Opera Gala ». The Philharmonic Orchestra Vorpommern, together with its soloists, under the direction of Florian Csizmadia, will play Italian opera and arias by Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini or Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Puccini and Verdi.

On the forth day, Joja Wendt, Sebastian Knauer, Axel Zwingenberger and Martin Tingvall - four pianists, eight hands on two pianos will deliver a first-class performance by combining classical music with boogie woogie, jazz and pop music.

On the last day « Die Prinzen & Symphony Orchestra », the famous a cappella group Die Prinzen from Germany will play their famous "Alles nur geklaut", "Ich wär so gerne Millionär" or "Küssen verboten" accompanied by the Orchestra of the Musical Comedy Leipzig and with arrangements specially written for this special occasion.

The ticket prices vary from 46 to 108 euros.
