Canadian Ambassador to Germany attends the opening of Awakening

Awakening is a new Canadian art exhibition hosted in Bonn

By recounting past horrors, the Awakening exhibition joins the dialogue on the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The featured works made by Canadian and Indigenous artists. All artworks are taken from the Canada Art Bank collection.

The curator, Bruce Mau, chose all the works in this exhibition in order to create a space that promotes both hope and soul-searching. Additionally, he added seventeen essays from Canadian thinkers who wrote about the 2030 UN Agenda. The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario organized this partnership with the Canada Council Art Bank.

The Awakening exhibit is designed to raise visitors’ awareness of the significance of the SDGs and how art and cultural interact with and aid in the 2030 Agenda. Ambassador Stéphane Dion attended the opening of Awakening in Bonn, while attending the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) climate conference. The exhibit is on display until Thursday, June 27.
