Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting in Germany

The Annual Meeting 2016 will be Held in Frankfurt

The Asian Development Bank, with its headquarters in Manila, will hold its annual meeting during May 2nd – 5th 2016, which will be the 49th meeting of this kind. The member meeting which is held at different worldwide locations each year, will again take part in Europe in 2016, after seven years in Asia.

The German Association for International Cooperation or GIZ has been assigned the responsibility and overseeing of the four day event with more than 5.000 participants expected, as well as government representatives from the 67 member states and high profile political guests. The Director of Congress in Frankfurt, Claudia Delius Fisher, said that they are able to offer an attractive and compact room concept with the added advantage of excellent accessibility as well as high quality infrastructure. 

The Asian Development Bank is primarly focused on economic development and cooperation, in order to reduce the poverty in Asia and the Pacific region. The bank focuses on the development of the private sector, regional cooperation and a sustainable environmental policy. The institute awards loans and makes equity investments.

The Federal Republic of Germany invited the Asian Development Bank to hold its annual meeting in Germany, through the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation. The organizers are impressed by the city of Frankfurt, with as being modern and progressive metropolis. The city is also the home to the European Central Bank headquarters and known as being an attractive, greenery filled city on the river Main with many historic sights. In addition to that, the accessibility and the short distances were the next important argument. Sustainability has been chosen as the key theme for the 2016 meeting.
