The two Ministers seek to advance their bilateral relations through an agreement in the field of culture.

During his visit to the USA, the Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Gent Cakaj, has met with the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov. The two Ministers gathered on April 3rd in Washington in the framework of a meeting on the efforts of Western Balkan countries to open negotiations with the European Union.

During the session, Cakaj and Dimitrov expressed the desire to foster bilateral relations between their two countries in fields of common interest. Their decision to share best practices in the area of arts and science is reflected in the signature of an agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia on the establishment of Cultural and Information Centres in the Republic of Albania and in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The creation of these Centres, which will be responsible for organizing events and distributing information bulletins, is key to develop cultural cooperation between the two countries. The will of the Republics of Albania and North Macedonia to sign and enforce this agreement demonstrates an understanding of the importance of culture in international relations and might become a success story that inspire similar initiatives in the future.
