News from Berlin. H.E. Amb. Lazăr Comӑnescu has served as the Ambassador of Romania to Germany since 2009. After completing his studies as the Academy of Economics in 1972, Comӑnescu embarked on his career in the Department of International Economic Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, serving as a diplomat until 1982. From 1982 – 1990, Comӑnescu worked as a lecturer for the Department of International Economic Relations at the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, following which he served as a diplomat for the  Mission of Romania to the European Union. Comӑnescu worked as the Director of the EU-Unit for the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania from 1994 – 1995 and was then appointed State Secretary until 1998. Comӑnescu served as the Ambassador of Romania to NATO, the WEU and the European Union before becoming the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Romania prior to becoming the Ambassador of Romania to Germany.
