The Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI) is organizing the 3rd German African Business Summit in Accara, Ghana from the 11th – 13th of February in 2019.

Every two years the top leaders in government and business from Germany and the Sub-Saharan African region come together to discuss and promote the economic relationship between Germany, Europe’s fastest growing economy, and the fastest growing region in the world. The German-African Business Summit is organized by the Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative of German Business, led by SAFRI chairman Prof. Dr. Heinz-Walter Groίe. The German-African Business Summit of 2019 aims to strengthen economic partnerships between Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa, and to explore business trends and new market opportunities.

The SAFRI is the voice of German business which interacts with policy-makers in Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa. Its main objective is to intensify co-operation with these African countries and to encourage mutual trade and investment. Moreover, SAFRI is supporting the dialogue between German and African businesses and industries and providing a platform of exchange for German and African partners.

After the first summit concluded in Berlin in 2015, the former German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, laid emphasis on the need for improvement within the co-operation of African Governments towards the economic co-operation from the traditional development co-operation. He made the remarks that economic co-operation will create jobs, reduce illegal migration and poverty levels, and furthermore will increase the market share of German businesses operating in sub-Saharan Africa.

During the next German-African business Summit in Ghana, participants have the opportunity to meet and network with over 750 high-ranking representatives and decision makers from business, associations and politics from Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a great opportunity to deepen relationships and ties with different countries and to gather information on economic development, business opportunities, finance, digitalization and start-ups.
