Hungary was represented with a designated stand at the annual reception of the International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) at the German Bundestag in Berlin.

On June 6, 2019, the German Bundestag hosted a reception for this year’s participants of the International Parliamentary Scholarships program. The Embassy of Hungary in Berlin has announced through its social media channels that it supported the Hungarian participates in organizing a stand representing Hungarian culture, food, and traditions. According to a statement by the Hungarian IPS participants, the stand was warmly welcomed by visitors of the reception and met with great interest.

The International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) allow young graduates to observe the daily procedures at the German Bundestag for five months, and to work in a parliamentary office in Berlin for three out of those five months. The program is an initiative of the German Bundestag under the auspices of the presiding officer of the German parliament, and it is targeted primarily at young graduates from Central Asia, Europe, Israel, North America and the Arab world. Each year, the German Bundestag, in close cooperation with Free University, Humboldt University and Technical University Berlin, awards about 120 of those scholarships.

The goal of the initiative is to promote good relations between Germany and the participating countries, to strengthen democratic values and tolerance as well as to raise awareness of cultural diversity. Thus, the program aims to contribute to global peace.
