News from Berlin - At the Zagreb Dance Center Mondays are traditionally dedicated to dance films and this tradition is to continue throughout 2014 as well. This year the Center collaborated with the Goethe-Institute in Croatia to organize a one-month event celebrating the German choreographer Pina Bausch, one of the biggest legends of dance theatre.

The initiative, which started on May 12th and is to conclude on June 9th, consists of a series of Monday documentaries and videos of performances, which capture the artist’s life by trying to trace her global success.

On the first day, the public was invited to watch the documentary film entitled “Pina Bausch” which was directed by Anne Linsel who retraced Bausch’s works and her revolutionary character.
The following screening was held on Monday 19th and it was the choreographic version of the “Le Sacre du Printemps - The Rite of Spring” by Igor Stravinsky. In the coming week another video of a performance,  entitled “Café Müller” and directed by Pina Bausch in 1978 is to be shown.
The last two Mondays will be dedicated to the first work experiences of the German dancer with teenagers and older people, by projecting the documentary films “Men and women ages 65” directed by Lilo Mangelsdorff and "Dancing Dreams - Teenagers dancing Kontakthof of Pina Bausch" by Anne Linsel.

All films are  being shown in original language, with English subtitles, and the admission is free in order for to be able to discover the fascinating world of such an important German artist. News from Berlin - Berlin Global
