Four Kenako Africa Award 2019 winners

The Kenako Award winners were elected among the participants in the Fair for Bridge Builders, to develop their projects in Africa.

At the end of the Kenako Afrika-Festival in Berlin for the sixth year, the winners of the Kenako Award were elected, this year exceptionally, there were four winners and many participants who were able to present their projects at the Fair for Bridge Builders.

The Kenako Afrika-Festival took place in Berlin from 3 to 14 July and included many activities to promote African culture at a global level. Among the events was the Fair for Bridge Builders where many organizations had the opportunity to present their active projects in Africa to a wide audience.

As a result of the event, a jury of experts elected the winners, who this year were as many as four, this demonstrates even more the high level of participants. Among the most influential factors for the victory were: innovation, global learning, sustainability and multiplier effectiveness.

The first prize was won by Solar Led (Soled) Technology, which developed solar-powered devices for use in Africa, where 60% of the inhabitants do not have access to electricity these tools can make life easier. Mweso, a scholarship program, won the second prize. The name derives from the city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in fact the project aims to give the opportunity to study to many Congolese students. Finally, the third place went, exceptionally, to two organizations: Unique 24 and Initiative Perspektivwechsel. The first is an online business and education project, while I.P. works to eliminate all forms of discrimination in society through educational projects in Berlin and Douala, Cameroon. The first two winners also received an airline ticket offered by Brussels airlines to an African destination of their choice.
