On June 21st, the 24th Fête de la Musique Berlin will turn the capital into a single music stage. The Fête de la Musique Berlin will once again set its own records, with the participating musicians enjoying countless outdoor and indoor stages this year. The organizers are delighted that every year more organizers join, get involved and enrich the Fête with their own ideas and initiatives.

According to the founding legend of the Fête de la Musique, Jack Lang, a French Minister of Culture in 1982, was so impressed by a study that showed a large number of French amateur or professional musicians. On June 21, 1982, he called all the musicians in Paris to leave their homes for thirty minutes to come and play music in the street.

In 1984, the first Fête took place outside of France in Liège, Belgium. From 1985, the "European Year of Music", it spread across various national borders. Meanwhile, the Fête is celebrated worldwide with more than 50 cities and communities on board. The Fête de la Musique came to Berlin in 1995. The event is organized by le Centre Français (The French Center) which is a well-known cultural institution that promotes German-French exchange.

This year the organizers hope that all of Berlin will celebrate music on countless stages in all districts! The Fête de la Musique is an opportunity to gather professionals, amateurs, friends, neighbors, strangers, domestics, foreigners, bands, Berliners, expats, old and young musicians with all styles, all good vibes for the purpose of celebrating music. The events start on June 21, 2018 at le Centre Français.
