Deutsches Technikmuseum: German Technology Museum

News from Berlin – One of the recommended sights to see in Berlin is the German Technology Museum (Deutsches Technikmuseum) which offers a comprehensive insight into technical cultural history in Germany.

The area occupies 26,000 sqm of floor space which makes the Technical Museum one of the largest in Europe. The tradition carried by the Museum is about other famous technical museums which were welcoming visitors back before the World War II in Berlin.

The location of this museum is in Gleisdreieck (railroad junction) which also has a historical importance. It is where the freight station used to be located, the rail operations headquarters with two freight depots as well as the factory premises of the ‘Gesellschaft für Markt-und Kühlhallen’.

The German Technology Museum is an interactive venue which hosts many exhibitions that allow the visitors to learn and gain experience with practically all branches of technology. They include traffic, communications, production and energy technology as well as the inland and high sea navigation, space and aeronautics.

There are many other attractions in the museum. It hosts the world’s largest railway collection in the historical locomotive depots and it also features a museum park that includes a brewery and various mills. It is a very interactive museum suitable for all the ages young and old.
