News from Berlin – During the month of June and part of July, Berlin will be able to witness the multitude of cultural events brought together by the Copa da Cultura 2.0. Organized by Haus der Kulturen in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, this event follows the success of the two preceding programs that accompanied the last two football cups, and aims to combine the uniting spirit of both Sport and Art. All World Cup Games retransmissions will be projected onto a giant screen with over 1000 seats and a multitude of concerts will take place on the weekends bringing together a variety of Brazilian artists and styles.

This event provides a combination of well-known stars such as Gilberto Gil, Choco Buarte or Bebel Gilberto to new Brazilian artists based in Berlin and ranging in a variety of styles. This year’s events will also provide a much stronger presence of female artists to counterbalance the male-dominance in previous years with strong figures such as singer-songwriter Monica Besser and her fusion of musical styles.

Copa da Cultura 2.0 will provide an opportunity to witness the export of “cultural and social dimensions of football in Brazil”  and its interaction with German, and ultimately international Sport and culture.

Copa da Cultura 2.0 will take place from June 12th to July 13th. Game retransmissions are free of charge at Rainhas do Norte e Grace Kelly. Concert Entrance tickets: 10€/8€; Vatapá de Fruta Pão e Monica Besser 5€; Ed Motta 14€/10€; Sergio Mendes 35€. Location of Concerts: John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin.
