News from Berlin - The Embassy of Burkina Faso, the Embassy of Canada, and the Representation of the Government of Québec in Berlin, are coming together to celebrate ‘International Francophonie Day’: a day to honor and recognize French language and culture. To be held on March 26th at ufaFabrik, the International Center for Culture and Ecology in Berlin, the free event has been held annually for over ten years by French-speaking embassies and delegations in Berlin.

A culturally diverse evening featuring local culinary specialities and a diverse musical program with artists from Canada, Burkina Faso and Québec, the event will conclude with a live musical act with music from the French-speaking world. International Francophonie Day is celebrated on March 20th every year by the 77 member states of the ‘International Organization of La Francophonie’, celebrating the French language and Francophone culture.

The event aims to demonstrate the diversity of the French-speaking community, the dynamism of its cultural ingenuity and to promote the moral principles of ‘La Francophonie’: respect for human rights, unity, gender equality and cultural diversity. The event will be held at ufaFabrik, Berlin, on March 26th. For more information, head to http://www.francophonie-berlin.de .
