As well he highlighted the necessity of getting humanitarian assistance to the people of Venezuela, which he hopes to be accomplished by February 23. With reference to that, Freeland confirmed Canada´s support for Interim President Guaidó and Canada´s dedication in helping Venezuela. “There is now a very long list of countries that have recognized Juan Guaidó as interim president,” she said. “That is a sign that the international community is coming together around democracy in Venezuela.” Later on Freeland vocalized her encouragement towards Venezuelans and strong belief that their democratic aspirations will prevail through determination and unity.
