Berlin will celebrate the solstice with a Nordic Party for the 4th year in a row. Since 2012, Berlin hosts the Midsommar Festival, a Scandinavian music festival, which also includes workshops and games.

The Berlin Midsommar Festival is organized by the music consultancy agency “Nordic by Nature”, an agency founded in 2010. They started projects like Midsommar Festival when they realized that Sweden and Berlin shared not only the love for music, but also the so called “Culture of the Sun”, which refers to the importance these crowds give to being outside for as long as possible, while the weather is pleasant. This perfect combination gave birth to the Midsommar idea: to celebrate the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, with a music festival, and party in a Scandinavian way.

This year the Berlin Misommar Festival will start on June 24th (Friday), at 16:00, in Urban Spree, and it will last until 05:00 of June 25th. The Scandinavian bands joining are Gnučči (Swedish), Lisa Alma (Danish), Wangel (Danish), Lord Pusswhip (Icelandic) and Chain Wallet (Norwegian). The Djs will be JUSTLIKESNOW with FOXY MULDER, Sascha Schlegel, and Pop Slutties.

The other highlights of the festival will be a flower wreath workshop (although everyone will receive a flower wreath at the entrance); the Majstången (Maypole) to dance around; traditional Swedish games like Kubb, Göteborg Paper Chase, Fünfkampf, and Fiskdamm; traditional Scandinavian food (like Sill), and drinks (like Nubbe); and there is even going to be a Finnish Sauna (the towels can be bought or brought to the festival).

The entrance is free for the first people to register through Eventbrite. The address for Urban Spree is Revaler Straße 99, 10245 Berlin. The closest U-Bahn, S-Bahn and Tram Station are Warschauer Str. Station.
