An exhibition "Multicultural: Germany, a Country of Immigration"

International relations and cultural diplomacy depend on many things and one of them is immigration. Immigration creates cultural bridges between countries and it plays a major role in building better diplomacy, alliances, political and economic strategies and concepts throughout human history and society. Cultural diplomacy considers the historical role and importance of immigration because it reflects the development of contemporary foreign affairs.
From 21 May to 16 October 2016 an exhibition organized by the House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany at Berlin's German Historical Museum will present all aspects of immigration to Germany. The exhibition named “Multicultural: Germany, a Country of Immigration” contains almost 800 objects from the past six decades’ historical course of immigration to the country, integration and assimilation.
After 60 years of immigration stream to the country, the Federal Republic of Germany is now the second most popular migration destination after the United States. The exhibition "Multicultural: Germany, a Country of Immigration" shows the variety of cultural identities in the backbone of the European economy. It tells different stories and shows different faces of the cultural diversity in Germany since the 1960s when the first southern European "guest workers" came to the country.
The exhibition illustrates the migrant’s lives and traditions and the visitors can answer different questions related with the transformation of the society and today’s cultural palette in Germany.
In today’s world of cultural differences and social tensions, the exhibition at Berlin's German Historical Museum shows the interaction between cultures, religions and identities.
