News from Berlin. The fourteenth edition of the ‘All Nations Festival’ in Berlin is set to take place on July 5 this year. The annual event sees numerous participating embassies and cultural institutes open their doors and host events for the general public. The festival has been organized by the ‘Berliner Gesellschaft für international Begegnungen’, which has also received assistance from the ‘SOS Kinderdörfer’ and ‘be berlin’. In previous years, embassies have prepared readings, concerts, dancing events and further cultural activities aimed at giving visitors an insight into their respective cultural norms and heritage. One popular feature of the festival is that participants are given free passes that they can have stamped in each embassy that they visit. The ‘All Nations Festival’ was first established in 2001 with participating entities voluntarily offering events on their grounds. The event has since grown in popularity with over 25 embassies and organisations regularly participating and approximately 15,000 people visiting the various places that offer cultural events. This year, 14 countries, hailing mainly from Asia and Africa, have already confirmed their participation whilst the Chinese Cultural Centre, the Korean Cultural Institue, as well as the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will also prepare events. Overall, it can be said that the event offers a tour of Berlin whilst also giving an insight into a wide range of different cultures.
