News from Berlin. Makhenkesi Arnold Stofile is a South African politician and was born December 27th 1944 and served as Minister of Sport and Recreation during 2004-2010 and currently serves as Ambassador to Germany. Stofile studied towards a masters in Theology from University of Fort Hair and also obtained a Master of the Arts from Princeton in 1983. In 1963 Stofile joined African National Congress. He was charged by the Ciskei government for harbouring terrorists and served a three year jail sentence. Stofile is also an ordained minister of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa. After the democratic elections in 1994, Stofile was the ANC’s chief whip in Parliament, he remained at this position until he became Premier of the Eastern Cape in 1997.
