News from Berlin. Born in 1951, Mrs. Seeneevassen-Frers was educated at the Queen Elizabeth College in Mauritius and completed her university studies at the University of Kiel, Germany, where she obtained a Masters degree in Marine Biology. She was also trained as a research diver.

After her studies, she worked 5 years for the Research Department of the Ministry of Fisheries in Mauritius. Her assignments were often combined with diving, as she was the only officer with this training at the time. She left the Ministry for family reasons and later worked in a family enterprise in restaurant management. She also took up contracts in advising on Environmental Impact Assessments for hotel constructions near the coastline of Mauritius, which involved close interaction with the fishermen.

In 2006, she was employed as adviser to the Minister of Agro-Industry and Fisheries in matters pertaining to Fisheries. She spent a year as Officer in Charge of the Competent Authority for fish exports to the EU. In 2008, she became adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade.

Mrs. Sarojini Seeneevassen-Frers was accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mauritius to the Federal Republic of Germany on 13 December 2010.

Mrs. Seeneevassen-Frers speaks English, French and German.

She enjoys reading, music and art.
